THE SHEPHERD’S CORNER

Psalm 4

How well do you sleep at night?

Some nights I sleep so well...others I toss and turn.

David helps us to see our heart and if sin is in our lives will impact how at peace we are. We should be so terrified of sin that is causes us to gemetar.

Tremble and do not sin;
when you are on your beds,
search your hearts and be silent. (Psalm 4: 4)

When we take this approach towards sin it doesn't mean that we never sin, but that we avoid is as much as possible. We set up ways to protect our hearts, and then we search our hearts and see if there are things that hurt God...if there are, we take care of it.

When we can take care of sin in our lives we are at peace.

In peace I will lie down and sleep,
for you alone, Lord,
make me dwell in safety. (Psalm 4:8)

And what better thing that for our hearts to be at peace no matter what is going on around us. There is so much happening in the world now. What the world needs is Peace. That's why God sent us the Prince of Peace...the one who was victorious over sin - so that we could be free, and can be at peace.
