The other day we had the honor of visiting our sister, Tante Lolita. As you know we have been praying for her. Well, when we came to her home, we saw her sitting comfortably with oxygen tubes inserted into her nostrils. Despite looking weaker, she remained upbeat and full of faith.

She told us that doctors had decided to terminate all treatment and instead, placed her in hospice care in the comfort of her own home. She also broke the news that they had given her three months to live. We were obviously shocked but she remained calm and full of smile. She told us that she’s been ready. She is looking forward to going home and meeting Our Heavenly Father.

She told us not to be sad because there is nothing to be sad about. To her, death is simply a transition to a new life with God. She appreciates all the prayers we, as a church, have made on her behalf. She is grateful to God for the many blessings He has given her and she wants everyone to rejoice with her. But, in the coming days she is asking for our understanding to give her the privacy she needs to be with her family.

I am so encouraged by what I saw that I told her that she has become an inspiration to me—and I am sure, to us all. When the time comes for me to leave this temporary dwelling, I, too, want to rejoice like Tante Lolita. I, too, want to say, “I am ready, Lord.” I, too, want to look back and thank God for the many blessings He has given me. I, too, want to have that excitement of seeing the face of My Wonderful Savior who has loved me so dearly. And, of course I want to have the joy of being reunited with so many loved ones who have gone before. Amen! Come Lord Jesus! Come!
