The Shepherd's Corner

[:en]THE SHEPHERD’S CORNER

Psalm 3

David is in trouble. Big trouble.

His son is chasing him and wants to kill him. Could you imagine what that would feel like? To actually have your own son hunting you down!

I would be heartbroken. In this moment David cries out to God and says,

"But you, Lord, are a shield around me,
my glory, the One who lifts my head high.
4 I call out to the Lord,
and he answers me from his holy mountain. (Psalm 3:3-4)

Usually these difficult times are never pleasant, but we also can't stay the same. We can't remain "neutral" in difficult times. We can either run to God or run from God. We can either grow or not. Remember that there is no growth in comfort, but there is no comfort in growth.

David finds himself in one of his lowest times - being hunted by his son, and in that place he knows God as a shield (because he needs protection), the One who lifts his head high (because it is hanging low because of his son), and the One who answers (because he desperately needs to hear God's voice).

I hope that we can remember this week that God is all that we need. He is our shield, our Hope, and speaks.

THE SHEPHERD’S CORNER Live faithfully It was a death sentence. The king had a dream and he wanted his wise men to interpret it without telling them what the dream was. If they didn’t, they would all be killed. His wise men said what everyone was thinking – there isn’t anyone who could do tha...

THE SHEPHERD’S CORNER I did not know Oom Injo too well. Due to health reasons, he was usually in his room whenever I visited Tante Margaret. But the little I knew about him, there was one thing that is absolutely clear about him: He was devoted to God! Every time I asked him to pray, […]...
