The Race of Life

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 1 Corinthians 9:24

I've loved watching the Olympics! I love even more hearing the stories of the athletes. We all have a story to tell.

Here Paul likens our faith journey to a race. He shares that everyone runs in a race, but only one gets the prize.

I know that every Olympic athlete didn't train to get last place, or 5th place, or even 2nd place - no, they run to win, because everyone knows that in a race there's only one winner.

In the same way that runners would run in a race to get the prize, we should also run in this race of life to get a prize - the prize of eternal things. Is this how you live your faith out? Do you use strict discipline in your spiritual journey thinking of your eternity, and training for your life with God now and in eternity with the same disciple, sacrifice, and seriousness as an Olympic athlete would for their sport?

If not, I think Paul would say - "Why not?"
Run in such a way as to get the prize.

How do you need to live this life to run in this race of life so that your faith reflects that you are running the race well and running in such a way as to get the prize?
