The Shepherd's Corner

THE SHEPHERD’S CORNER

I hope you all could come and join us in our Thanksgiving retreat. But, I know for some of you physically it will be almost impossible to go. I understand but I will miss you there. Your absence serves as a reminder that we cannot continue doing the things we used to do. There will come a time in which we cannot do it anymore, such as going to the retreat. So, while we can, do it and enjoy it.THE SHEPHERD’S CORNER

So, while we can, do it and enjoy it.

For those of you who can join us, I’d like to give you a heads-up as to what it is I will be sharing. You see, being a Christian is not only about believing in a set of tenets; being a Christian is about living in a certain way. In other words being a Christian is not only about believing—that Jesus is the Son of God who has died for our sins. Being a Christian is also about living—for and as directed by Jesus the Son of God.

In order to live for and as directed by Jesus, we first have to know what it is that He values. There are a number of values we can glean from the Bible. In this retreat I will zero in on “traveling light.” Perhaps you are wondering what “traveling light” means.

You see, life is a travel. We travel from our wandering in the earthly desert to our final resting place in heaven. And, as any other travel, we can travel heavy, we can also travel light. We travel heavy when we bring more than we need; we travel light when we bring only what we need. Needless to say it is best that we travel light.

We will identify three loads that we often carry with us. We will learn how to eliminate this extra baggage so we can walk more freely and be used by God more effectively. So, if time permits and you can still go, please come and join us in our Thanksgiving retreat.

Easter Time - Jesus I know Jesus loved the Father. I know He was perfectly obedient. I know it was his desire to do the will of His Father no matter what, but I don't think it was always easy. When he was praying in the garden, soon before his arrest, it says that his […]...
