Welcome to our “new” church! I am sure you all agree that this same old building looks different AND new. Not only does it look different and new, it also looks beautiful AND bigger! Last Sunday some of you even thought that we had actually enlarged the space. There is of course more to be done to make this building really nice but as Bob says, “It is going to be the second phase, Paul.” Well, as far as I am concerned what has been done is already good and it does make a big difference. So, thank you! And, thank you Lord for guiding the hands of the men who work tirelessly. Bless them, Lord!

When I look at the transformation that is happening in the physical building of our church, I am reminded of the similarity between it and that of the spiritual building of ourselves. God, too, works in phases. He does not transform us instantly.

Real and long-lasting growth takes place over time through a process of forging and molding. God does not make us a forgiving person over night but over a series of hurt. And, a series of hurt usually happen over a long period of time.

Nonetheless even though we are not yet completely changed, some changes are enough to show that we are now different AND new. For the most part we might be the same old self, but in the hands of God, some renewed characters do make a big difference.

Bill Gaither has a children’s song and it goes like this, “Kids under construction, maybe the paint is still wet. Kids under construction, the Lord might not be finished yet.” Like our church, we, too, are under construction. And, the Lord is not finished yet.
