Jesus said, “Do this in remembrance of me”. How are we supposed to remember Christ in the Lord’s Supper? We can do it by thinking about what He did and why He did it. By understanding the significance of the Lord’s Supper, we could regard it not just as a ritual or habitual.
When having the Lord’s Supper, it is important that we come before God with a broken and repentant heart. A heart that is receptive to God’s teaching and willing to be mold and transformed by Holy Spirit. (Psalm 51:17).
God wants our brokenness as we come before Him. By being broken before God, we can examine ourselves for any our un-confessed sin or resentful attitude toward others (1 Corinthians 11:28). By being crushed in spirit, we are able to understand deeply His Grace and experience it.
Let us humble ourselves before Him as we participate in the Lord’s Supper. For God will restore the humble and give new courage to those with repentant hearts.
