The Shepherd's Corner

When Corrie ten Boom was about five years of age, she asked Jesus to come into her life.  She recalls that it happened while she was playing “house.”  She remembers she had this imaginary friend come knocking on the door of her “house.”  Her mother who was nearby saw what she was doing.  When Corrie ten Boom was about five years of age, she asked Jesus to come into her life.  She recalls that it happened while she was playing “house.”  She remembers she had this imaginary friend come knocking on the door of her “house.”  Her mother who was nearby saw what she was doing.
She then told Corrie that there was actually SOMEBODY who also wanted to come into her heart.  Her mother said that Jesus was knocking on the door of her heart.  She then asked Corrie whether or not she would want to open the door and ask Jesus to come into her heart.  Corrie said, yes, and invited Jesus into her heart.  Corrie says since then Jesus became more and more real to her.

Along with Corrie ten Boom there are countless others who have asked Jesus to come into their hearts at a very young age.  And, many of them remain standing and walking with Jesus till today.  Another individual that comes to mind is Dr. James Dobson.  He, too, asked Jesus to come into his life at the age of five.  And, he, too, remains standing and walking with Jesus till today.

We cannot and should never dismiss the importance of teaching our young children about Jesus.  Yes, there are some who have strayed, but there are many more who remain faithful to Jesus till the end.   In the words of Corrie ten Boom, children should be led to Christ and not be left to wander.  We will never know what the Good Lord will do with the seed that we plant today in our children’s hearts.

Looking back I thank Santy for leading every child of ours to Christ.  She was the one who asked each of them to open the door and invite Jesus to come.  And by faith I trust, He is still in their hearts.
