The Shepherd's Corner

[:en]THE SHEPHERD’S CORNER

God gave John and Elsie Benton a special burden: to reach out to the prostitutes on the streets of New York City, to care for them, and to introduce them to Jesus, the Savior of the world. Not only is it a worthy ministry, it is also a dangerous one because behind these prostitutes there are pimps who don’t want to lose their business.

Once they took Becky, a drug addict and a prostitute, off the street into their care. Becky became a follower of Jesus and was ready to leave her dark life behind. That day, John and Elsie took Becky to a revival meeting held by David Wilkerson, who ministered to gang members on the street of New York City. In the middle of the service, suddenly Joe Loco, Becky’s pimp, showed up and took a seat next to Becky, who was intently listening to the message.

What happened next was ugly. Joe Loco grabbed Becky’s arm and an argument broke out in the middle of the service. John Benton intervened and asked Joe Loco to step outside and surprisingly he agreed. He, then, explained to Joe Loco that Becky had accepted Jesus and wanted to leave her past behind. Thinking that Joe Loco might harm John, Becky also came out to check on John. The moment Joe saw Becky, he just ran after her. John then took action; he grabbed Joe by the shirt and dragged him outside.

Later during personal prayer God spoke to John Benton and asked him to apologize to Joe Loco, the pimp. Initially he refused because he felt he was right, but finally he relented. He looked for Joe Loco and apologized to him; during which time Joe Loco accepted Jesus as his Savior. A couple of months later Joe Loco died; he was killed. God has so arranged everything completely and perfectly; He does not miss anything and He does not leave anything behind.
