The Shepherd's Corner

Just go do something

We've been studying through the entire Bible in Lifeline and have now made it to the book of Revelation. We looked the past two months on the "Church" and things that are supposed to define us as a community of faith and how in between the book and Acts and Revelation we simply see people or groups of believers going out and living out their faith. We've been studying through the entire Bible in Lifeline and have now made it to the book of Revelation. We looked the past two months on the "Church" and things that are supposed to define us as a community of faith and how in between the book and Acts and Revelation we simply see people or groups of believers going out and living out their faith.

One thing that seemed to motivate them is the sense or feeling that Jesus is coming back. We see this in parables like the parable of the mina and talent that the lord (or in our case Lord) will be coming back and even though we don't know when he will come back, we need to be doing the right things in the mean time so that when he does come back he finds us being faithful in the things that we should be doing and he desires us to be doing.

At times I wonder how often we don't do the right things because we aren't living with a sense that Jesus IS coming back. Sometimes is simply boils down to just doing something - anything, that is in line with the calling and mission Jesus has given His followers.

Two weeks ago in IMPACT the students went out in groups to bless the community. Some groups gave out drinks, food, and even card and flowers to strangers on the street, but it also gave them a chance to talk to people, pray with them, and invite them to church. Sometimes when we don't know "what" to do, it's important to simply do "something" that will be a blessing to others because there's no telling how God could use that to touch someone's heart.
